XXI of 1860 in the year 2006 In response to the awesome challenges of the present society a handful of likeminded neighbors’ with deep concern and noble responsibilities towards the troubled community, got united to form an association in the name and style of the “UTKAL ASHA.”

AREA PROFILE
Initially the organization started its work in urban community particularly in slums of Bhubaneswar, state capital city of Odisha. The major slum called Saliasahi, the second largest slum in Asia, beside this slum we have taken up Leprosy colony, Dhamana Square, Mayfairbasti, CRP Square Slum. These slums inhabited by the marginalized and poorest among poor. The population of above mentioned slums are more than 150,000 migrated from different district of Odisha. Their living condition is hazardous to various diseases, un-hygienic, contaminated water causes invite the dreaded diseases. The high percent of child-malnourish recorded in these slums and children are at high risk. Child Education broken down and no schools established in the slums that brings darkness in to the life of child.
The organization realized after the carefully analysis of research and study report prepared by the experts. The children are neglected from the education and proper health care, as to bridge the gap the organization intervened with the child education and community development activities.

OBJECTIVES
Identifying the poorest of the poor, demonstrating the Social and humanitarian concern through child centered programme & managerial support in building their life to live with self confidence, dignity and respect.
GOAL
1. To care and support the malnourished children and educate them for wholistic development. 2. To undertake awareness activities for prevention of HIV/AIDS among the communities and provide support for rebuilding the life of HIV/AIDS patients. 3 To foster the welfare of the needy/aged which assist elderly irrespective of caste and creed.

Education
The organization intervened with the education program to provide quality education for the children of underprivileged and less opportunity of the slum children. Each child has right to have quality education, to meet the basic education we have initiated the Free English Medium School as “GYANA
Free Asha Tuition Centre
Utkal Asha also started six free tuition centre in different slums of Bhubaneswar. Now days without coaching of tuition it is very difficult to develop in education. Rich people pays huge amount for tuition and coaching to their children now days the education has became expensive. Therefore the Utkal Asha planned to give the better education even to the slum children. We give tuition to more than 350 students in six centers.
Health Care
In the school, health check-up camp organized in regular basis for the all children with the help of Govt. doctors and free medicines distributed to the ill children. All children and staff received the benefit of the free medical camp. The medical personnel are very much impressed with education system
KINDERGARTEN SCHOOL AT LEPROSY COLONY
40-nos poor children have been taken care of their health and basic education by providing supplementary nutritious food and taught them alphabetical and numerical knowledge to the little children. The program is need based, the reason is most of the parent are affected and suffering from the leper. The parent are more vulnerable and hopeless, their daily bread depends on begging at streets.
Community Transformation
• Community (Education Committee) takes care of the school infrastructure during holidays and visits the school and classes during school hour. • Parent sends their children regularly to the school with proper dress up, neat and clean. • Community has provided the place for the school building and play ground for the children

Old Aged Expenses
Some childless old aged needy people given miser finance support for the medical assistance. The cause is very much helpful to the hope less beneficiaries, regularly the staff visit and counsel them as when ever if required. They say “we are blessed because we have been treated homely.
